There have been many well informed individuals, both American nationals and expatriates, who have made the decision to get out of the USA while they are still able to do so - even if on a temporary basis - and to sit out the imminent US economic catastrophe in a region that will be, not only safer but also a whole lot cheaper; believing that to remain a US resident will have them being faced with not only the collapse of the US dollar, as well as the unprecedented inflation that will ravage the country as a result, but also with the, almost certainly associated social unrest, and the - also almost certain - initiation of Martial Law and all that will go with them.

For those who are still not convinced that this has all gone way past the planning stage (for that is what it surely is - a carefully structured plan being executed) and is in the final stages of implementation, might find this interview with Author Naomi Wolf enlightening. What she said here nearly two years ago has already come to pass, and believing it will stop there would be being more than a little naive...

It's probably not necessary to add that to do what people like 'Jim Rogers' (An extremely astute - perhaps even legendary - successful American investor) has done, and sell out completely to relocate to another country, is not something that would suit everyone. To start with, it is already too late for that approach for most people. But even for those who are sufficiently financially healthy, and are prepared to cut their losses, it is still a very major step, and one that is generally extremely difficult and expensive to carry off. Not to mention the emotional trauma and stress that usually also accompanies such a decision.. Most of those who have already done so, however, got in very early in the game - evidently being blessed with a better than average insight of things to come, or perhaps a little insider information - before the initial crisis hit.

To relocate on a temporary basis, though, is not such a major challenge; is a whole lot less expensive; far less emotionally draining (just like taking an extended holiday) and can - if care is taken in the planning - even be a profitable exercise under certain conditions.

This solution will not suit everyone, but it will be the answer for just six Americans; three couples; six singles (or even three well healed singles); or a family of six (maximum two children) who have sufficient resources to take advantage of it.

I am a Thai citizen living in Thailand's Nonthaburi province; right on the border with Bangkok province. I have two newly renovated, fully furnished and equipped townhouses, both in the same dead-end and very quiet lane. See Description Here. and I am prepared to lease them at Thai prices to select tenants.

The existing laws don't permit foreigners to purchase this kind of property in Thailand, but as a Thai citizen I am permitted to lease these properties to whomsoever I wish for three year terms without the involvement of the authorities. That also includes renewing the lease for a further term every three years.

The immigration laws in Thailand allow for extended residency under certain conditions and circumstances, and arrangements are possible to accommodate such a tenancy.

Not considering the obvious benefits of a quick departure from the USA in the very near future, some of the benefits of a temporary relocation to Thailand in general, and this location in particular, are as follows:

a) The cost of living (outside of the main cities) in Thailand is very low compared with the USA.

Example: Eat a hearty meal in one of the Department Store food centers for the equivalent of around US$2-3.00... In a decent restaurant US$5.00

b) Vendors of everything from brooms to vegetables, meat, fish, fruit and so on come into this lane - as they do in many areas - daily and sell their products and produce at less than half the price of the same things available at The Malls and other Shopping Plazas (The food is generally fresher too)

Example: a kilo of (Not GMO) tomatoes for US$0.75; a kilo of fresh raw prawns (shrimp) for US$3.00

c) The properties on offer are not more than 10 minutes walk from The Mall Department Store.. See Photos. Or if walking isn't the preferred method of conveyance, go there in air-conditioned comfort for less than US$1.00 by taxi.

d) A Taxi trip to the center of Bangkok - a one hour drive - costs the equivalent of around US$4.00, or go by Sky-train or subway for US$1.00.. Or take a relaxing cruise there in a ferry along the Famous Chao Phraya River for US$0.25.

e) Buy a good quality dress shirt for US$4.00, a cotton T Shirt for US$2.00 or tailor made trousers for US$10.00

f) Get full local maid service daily if desired for US$5.00; at your door pickup and delivery laundry service at mere cents per item; weekly garden maintenance at around US$3.00 and to your door catering service for home made quality dinner meals at around US$5.00

g) This is a very quiet, yet convenient, location; all of the neighbors are very friendly, accommodating and family people; there has not been any social unrest of any nature or any criminal activity - drugs, break-ins, juvenile delinquency etc - whatsoever in the ten years that I have personally lived in this lane. Although there has been a bit of protesting relating to the present government's railroading of the previous PM's mandate on occasion in Bangkok City, it has not effected life in the outer areas..

OK, I think I have made my point.. So what am I offering?...

Well, as I see it, things are destined to become very ugly in the USA in the near term, and for those who have a home, or an apartment, there that they don't particularly want to try to sell at the presently plummeting prices, and really do not wish to face the difficulties and stress associated with completely severing themselves from their roots, this would be a great opportunity to kill two birds with the one stone, and at very little - to none at all - overall cost, and relocate temporarily.

The rental that could be had in the USA for decent residential accommodation (even now) would certainly far exceed that I am asking for these properties, and because this end can be set up in advance for immediate occupancy - including fresh milk and cold beer in the fridge if desired - all that's really necessary to relocate here for a three year period (or longer) while the game at home is being played out by the power-mongers, is to lease your US property, fill a suitcase with basic essentials - and perhaps a laptop or two - and jump on a plane.. Move in today and start - continue if already involved in online commerce - work and earning tomorrow.

Those who are presently renting their residence and have all the luxury items it contains on credit might even consider it a wise move to just walk away from it all. Not a lot to lose by doing that, other than perhaps a credit rating, and what good is one of those going to be to anyone in the not too distant future anyway? Not to mention that after about five years all records become obsolete and a new rating can be established.

This offer is of course limited to the two properties I have to lease, but for those who are accepted as tenants it will be a relatively simple and stress free - and considering all previous similar situations, historically short term - transition. Every assistance will be provided to the successful applicants in regard to the familiarization of the environment, laws, culture and principles of affable co-existence among the natives.

Under the prevailing circumstances, however, I will require that a three year (renewable) lease be entered into and that the rental - See Details - be paid in Euro for the full term in advance. I will also require a bond as surety against damage to the property or the contents caused by the tenant. Refundable on expiry of the lease.
